"Character Loves Company: Defining the "Teachable Moments" in Sports by Pete Paciorek is the best book on the market for teaching our youth character values through sports. This book not only provides great advice, but unfolds character values in different tiered levels that corresponds with how we should be teaching our youth as they develop. This book not only teaches basic fundamentals of sportspersonship in our youth, but also how to respect parents, players, and coaches. This book draws on experiences from many famous athletes, and does a great job at quoting them through interviews on the character fundamentals that led them to where they are today in sports. The book touches on the "win-at-all-costs" mentality that is in youth sports now, and shows how there are other aspects of sports that you can be "winning" in aside from the scoreboard. This book is a must read for any coach, athletic director, or parent who has interest in building character in youth through sports."
